Driver Hits Thruway Service Area Building, Parked Cars

A woman attempting to park her car at the Pattersonville Service Area on the New York State Thruway stepped on the gas instead of the brake.
Her vehicle jumped the curb, glanced off the building, ran over several shrubs, drove across a sidewalk narrowly missing several pedestrians, then re-entered the parking lot and struck 4 parked cars.
The driver, Kathleen Martin, 67, of Johnstown, NY was not injured.
Three pedestrians were treated on scene by EMTs for minor injuries they sustained when the dove out of the path of the vehicle.
Three cars were towed from the scene with extensive damage.
Troopers notified DMV of the incident and requested a review of Ms. Martin’s driving privilege.
