New York Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley is scheduled to visit Waverly on Friday, October 23, for a ribbon cutting celebrating improvements at Soprano's Market. The ceremony is set for 10:30 AM at 607 Cayuta Avenue, according to an October 21 advisory from the Department of State.

The project was selected for a $420,000 NY Forward award in a state announcement issued in May 2024. The approved scope included an outdoor patio, additional lighting, new siding and insulation, a roof replacement and rehabilitation of the parking lot. The grant amount is the announced state award, rather than a verified total cost for the project.

Waverly received a $4.5 million award in the first round of NY Forward. Soprano's was one of nine projects selected for that village as part of a broader Southern Tier announcement covering Waverly, Montour Falls and Johnson City. The Soprano's award falls under NY Forward; Johnson City's separate projects were funded through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.

The Department of State says Mosley will be available to the media after the Waverly event. His regional itinerary also includes Thursday ribbon cuttings in Seneca Falls and at the Brick Tavern Museum in Montour Falls.

Friday's ceremony remains an upcoming scheduled event. The state advisory confirms its time and location; it does not establish that the ceremony has already taken place or provide a final accounting of construction costs.
