The New York State Police have arrested Todd Blauvelt Jr., 18, of Gorham NY on charges of felony Burglary and misdemeanor Punishable False Written Statement.
Blauvelt was discovered inside an expensive vacation home on Canandaigua Lake, in South Bristol NY.
Blauvelt had convinced his girlfriend’s family he had inherited the nearly 6,000 square foot, multi-million dollar lake house from a deceased grandfather and invited them to move in.
Within an hour, Blauvelt and the family were found by the homeowner, who called the police.
He was also charged with Punishable False Written Statement, as he provided a Trooper with the fictitious inheritance story on a signed deposition.
The girlfriend and family were not charged as it appears they unwittingly accompanied BLAUVELT and did not knowingly commit any crime.
Baluvelt was arraigned in Town of Bristol court by Town Justice McGUIRE and remanded to Ontario County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
