A third fraternity at Cornell University has now had its recognition revoked for a hazing incident. A Cornell official said the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity will no longer be acknowledged by the university for at least four years following a hazing incident that happened last October. The university has not released details on the nature of the hazing. It marks the third fraternity suspension at Cornell in the last two years, one of which involved a student death. In February 2011, 19-year old George Desdunes died of alcohol poisoning. Police say he was tied up and forced to drink alcohol in a mock kidnapping by Sigma Alpha Epsilon pledges. Three members of the fraternity were charged and eventually acquitted. Cornell officials suspended the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity for five years. Another fraternity, Sigma Pi, was placed on interim suspension following an incident at their frat house last May.
