The Princeton Review has released its list of the Top 10 “Best Value Colleges” in the nation and Binghamton University is ranked eighth. The list includes 150 schools, evenly divided between public and private institutions, that the Review says offer the most for every dollar spent. A total of 650 schools were considered with tuition, financial aid, admissions and academic demands all playing a part in the ranking. On average, the schools selected for the list admit fewer than half of all applicants. They are also producing graduates with student loan debt below national average, according to the Review. But the costs of attending the colleges on the Princeton Review list are higher than the national average. Including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, the average cost for a freshman was $19,500 for the public universities in their home state that made the list and $54,200 for those going to private schools cited on the list.
