Excessive speed on slippery roads caused a three-car-crash near Cortland, according to New York State Police in Ithaca. It happened Monday on Mclean Road when 21-year-old Allyssa Patak of Deer Park lost control of her vehicle and crossed over into the other lane, hitting a car driven by 29-year-old Robert Smith of Groton. A third vehicle was hit by debris from a broken windshield. Patak was seriously injured and taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Smith was taken to Cortland Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
