An inmate who was beaten by a Tioga County Corrections Officer back in 2010 will remain behind bars for the rest of his prison term. The state Supreme Court Appellate Division has denied a request by David Coffey to have charges of attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance dropped. While in custody at the Tioga County Jail handcuffed to a bench, Coffey was beaten by a former jail administrator, who pled guilty to federal charges in that case.
