Last week’s break in at Chenango Forks High School turned out to be a senior prank. However, charges filed in the case are no joke. 18-year-old Alex Vandermark was arraigned in the Town of Chenango Court on a third degree burglary charge. State Police say he broke into the high school and released hundreds of crickets and a school owned chinchilla on June 7th. Troopers say he also put rubber cement on several chairs and locks. The district was forced to close early that day as a precaution. Vandermark was released following his court appearance.
