The largest Fourth of July crowd in Tioga Downs history made its way to the casino and racetrack in Nichols to watch harness racing and one of the area’s largest fireworks shows last Thursday. 8,549 people, the 10th largest attendance in Tioga Downs history, were able to watch 10 live harness races, a trackside concert by the Kirby Band, and the much-anticipated fireworks display. The 2013 racing season has already seen several attendance milestones, including an Opening Day crowd of over 11,000 and over 5,700 in attendance for this year’s Camel and Ostrich races, making it the second largest Sunday crowd of all-time. The live racing seasons continues through September 14th.
