Former Owego Mayor Ed Arrington has died. Arrington served the village of Owego for ten years, twice as mayor.
Arrington also volunteered with the Owego Fire Department where he drove ambulance and helped with fire police. As mayor, the Riverwalk came to fruition, and the village survived the 2011 flood and continued important flood mitigation work.
Before serving as mayor, Arrington was a 33-year veteran and retiree of IBM, where he took credit for six patents in chemical engineering. Arrington leaves behind his wife, kids, niece and nephews.
Although the cause of death has not been confirmed, it’s believed that Arrington suffered a heart attack at his village home just after 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon.
Ed Arrington had just turned 70 in February.
