Eight hundred dogs will participate in a three-day competition as part of the annual Hickories Circuit Dog Show this weekend. The show begins on Friday at the Apalachin Fireman’s Field Day grounds, and will draw dog owners from eighteen different states. The event is sponsored by the Tioga County and Susque-Nango Kennel clubs. In Apalachin, each purebred dog will take to the field to showcase its traits based on American Kennel Club standards, including everything from physical appearance to temperament. The dogs will be involved in a process-of-elimination competition, starting among dogs of the same breed, then splitting into smaller groups, to determine Best in Show. Admission to the event is $3 per car, and the show runs from 8 AM to 4 PM Friday through Sunday.
