The shredding business based in Owego continues to branch outward. Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman has acquired its fire scrap metal processor in Steuben County, after its acquisition of Hornell Waste Material. The transaction between the companies, which will be an all-cash payment, is set to close in thirty days. The sale amount was not disclosed by the company. The Hornell yard will mark Upstate Shredding’s 15th location. Thirteen of the facilities are in New York with two in Pennsylvania. Owner Adam Weitsman said he plans to continue the company’s expansion throughout the Northeast. Over the summer, Upstate Shredding also acquired Reamer Recycling in Ithaca and Valley Recycling in Allegany.
