There is officially a new leader in Broome County politics. Deputy County Executive Bijoy Datta was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the Broome County Republican Party. Datta is best known for managing Preston’s election campaigns in 2011 and 2012. He also served as campaign manager and director of public affairs for Senator Tom Libous from 2002 to 2008. The Republican Committee also nominated Bob Nielson for election commissioner.
