An arrest has been made following Monday’s hit-and-run of a police officer. Just after 7:30 Monday morning, Binghamton Police Captain John Chapman was crossing the street at the intersection of Washington Street and North Shore Drive in Binghamton, when a pickup truck traveling south struck him. After Chapman was hit, the truck drove east and did not stop. The intersection was closed off while the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team assisted in the investigation. Chapman was taken to Wilson Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Monday afternoon, Binghamton Police arrested 28-year-old Terence Meehan of Binghamton. Meehan was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, along with driving an unregistered motor vehicle. Alcohol was determined to not be a factor in the incident. Meehan was arraigned in city court and sent to the Broome County Jail.
