The search for a missing man in Nichols has been cancelled. 77-year-old Edward Mills, who reportedly suffers from dementia, went missing from his West River Road home yesterday between 3:30 and 5:30 in the afternoon. The man was located shortly after 7 o’clock this morning by Security staff in the parking lot area at Tioga Downs. The man was reportedly conscious alert, weak, and wet. The Tioga County Search and Rescue Team was dispatched at 11:30 last night to assisted Sheriff’s Deputies, State Troopers, New York State Forest Rangers, and the DEC in an attempt to locate the man. The search continued until about 4 AM, and was scheduled to resume at 8 AM, but has been called off now that the man was located safe and sound.
