The Town of Union announced flood buyouts will start Monday. The 145 buyout applicants have been notified to schedule a real estate closing. Town Supervisor Rose Sotak says all buyout applicants have been notified by e-mail to make sure all properties are ready. There are two financing options involving whether the property will stay as green space once the home is demolished. Or, if there can be redevelopment at the location. Residents seeking a buyout must close their homes leaving them empty and utilities turned off before receiving their buyouts.
