The City of Binghamton is planting more than 200 trees before the end of the year. NASCAR’s green initiative donated 90 of the trees to the city. NYSEG also donated trees after this summer’s trimming controversy on the city’s west side. The rest come from a program run by Binghamton. The goal is to create a canopy within the city. Smaller trees will be placed in areas around power lines, to keep them from growing into a problem 20 to 30 years from now.
