The two men who allegedly murdered a Binghamton man and attempted to murder his fiancee are scheduled to be arraigned today in Broome County Court. 25-year-old Nigel Saunders and 21-year-old Julian Talamantez have been indicted by a county ground jury on felony counts of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. The indictments came after the two were accused of killing 23-year-old Jordan Dordell, and attempting to kill his 19-year-old fiancee after they broke into the couple’s home at 32 Mygatt Street in early November. Both victims were beaten and stabbed repeatedly, before they were bound and taken to the basement of the two-story home. That’s where police say the assailants tried to set the couple on fire. The fiancee, who was six months pregnant at the time, was able to escape and call for help. Firefighters extinguished the flames and found Dordell’s body inside. Both Saunders and Talamantez were located by Binghamton Police on the city’s West Side shortly after. Court documents allege that the murder was committed during the course of a robbery and burglary. There are reports that Saunders was a former roommate of Dordell’s at the Mygatt Street home. Both Saunders and Talamantez have been held in the Broome County jail without bail, and they face a sentencing of up to life in state prison if convicted of the first-degree murder charge.
