Binghamton police said Sunday they are searching for three people who they believe were at the scene of a stabbing downtown on Friday. Emergency responders were called just after 4:00 p.m. to the 200 block of Court Street for a man who was bleeding on the ground. Binghamton police said the stabbing happened in the parking lot of the Broome County Library. The crime scene stretched further down Court Street, and crime tape was seen at the Phelps Mansion and near the Broome County Library. Authorities on the scene said those areas were roped off because of an apparent blood trail. Police identified the stabbing victim Sunday as 30-year-old Kendu Johnson from Binghamton. They said he suffered a stab wound to his chest. He was taken to Wilson Hospital and is listed in critical condition. Police are trying to identify three individuals who appear in surveillance video at the library just before the stabbing occurred. Police said two individuals appear to be black men and one appears to be a Hispanic man carrying a plastic shopping bag. It also appears all three were using their cell phones.
