Multiple crashes along Route 17 Wednesday morning resulted in a section of the highway having to be shut down. Crashes were reported near Exit 65 in Owego as well as near Marshland Road. Route 17 was temporarily shut down from Exit 65 to Exit 66, forcing all traffic at Exit 66 to take the exit onto Route 434. The highway was reopened around 11:30 Wednesday morning. As emergency crews responded, some trucks were forced to travel westbound down the eastbound lane to reach the scenes of the accidents. Tow trucks were on the scene as well, removing about 5 cars from the area. Two people were taken to Wilson Hospital with minor injuries. Fire departments from Owego, Apalachin, and Campville all reported to the scene.
