A portion of Riverside Drive in Binghamton had to be shut down this morning as NYSEG crews worked to fix a utility pole that had been struck by a car. The crash took place just before 1 o’clock near West End Avenue. Binghamton Police say that the car ran into the pole, snapping it and causing heavy damage. The westbound lane of Riverside Drive between Briar Court and West End Avenue had to be shut down while NYSEG worked on the repairs. No power outages were reported in the area as a result of the accident, and no injuries were reported either. According to police, the driver of the car was ticketed for deviating from a direct course.
