A Tioga Center man was indicted by a grand jury for murder and evidence tampering charges after he was accused of stabbing his housemate to death back in October. 62-year-old Douglas Every allegedly stabbed 39-year-old Milton Jump in the chest during an argument at their residence at 281 Thorn Hollow Road in Tioga Center. Reports have been released of a Tioga County grand jury indicting Every on felony counts of second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. Every has pleaded not guilty and remains free on $225,000 bail while the case is pending in county court. The tampering charges allege that Every attempted to prevent blood and/or DNA evidence from being lifted off the knife used in the stabbing. Every himself dialed 911 and Tioga County Sheriff’s deputies found him standing outside the home upon their arrival. Police found Jump dead in the kitchen. Further court proceedings are still being scheduled in the case. If convicted of the second-degree murder charge, Every could face a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison.
