The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office is looking to warn local residents of a new phone scam in which the caller identifies himself as the Captain of the Las Vegas Police Department, and asks for money for the release of a family member that has been arrested. If anyone receives a similar call, do not send any money as requested. The Sheriff’s Office asks that instead of transferring money, try to get a contact phone number, and then notify the Sheriff’s Office at 607-687-1010.
