Throughout the month of May, the Tioga County Rural Ministry will be holding its Soap for Hope program, in which bins will be set up throughout Owego to collect personal hygiene products for those in need. The ministry’s Sister Mary O’Brien said that a two-month long survey of the poor, sick and elderly in the county determined which products were needed most, which led to the ministry taking action. The Soap for Hope project started last May, and the ministry saw such success that they vowed to do it again this year. The donations will be accepted across Owego now through the 31st. If you’d like to host a donation bin in your place of business, you can contact Sister Mary at 607-687-3021.
