Tioga Downs in Nichols held one of its most exciting weekends of the season when it kicked off its 9th season of live harness racing with the racino’s 7th annual Derby Fest. The event coincided with the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. Those in attendance were able to take part in the “Derby Hat Contest” by wearing large hats inspired by those seen worn at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby, with one lucky winner leaving with a $500 prize. A fireworks show capped off the night. Harness racing continues this weekend at Tioga Downs with post time set for 6:15 Friday night.
