Aaron Powell’s double homicide trial has been adjourned. Broome County Judge Joseph Cawley ruled on Tuesday that the jury selection for the trial, which was set to begin next week, will be pushed to July 10th. Powell’s attorney asked for additional time at a pretrial hearing so the defense could further review the evidence, and Cawley approved of the extra time. The trial is expected to last about two weeks. Powell is accused of killing 35-year-old Christina Powell and 24-year-old Mario Masciarelli last March in Binghamton. He faces one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. If convicted of the first-degree murder charge, he could face life in state prison.
