As schools in the area get ready for their budgets to head to a vote, a local library has a referendum that will be up for a vote on Tuesday. The Apalachin Library will have a referendum that voters can vote on while they head to the ballot for the school budget, which calls for funding for the library, after the library has seen a drop in government funding recently. Tony Poole of the Apalachin Library says that last year the library took part in a referendum vote and the results were positive, passing by 74 percent. This year’s vote will be just for the Apalachin Library, as the Coburn Free Library in Owego looks to instead make its building handicap accessible. Poole said that it’s important for residents to vote for the additional funding for the library because of the resource it offers taxpayers. Voting will be taking place at the Apalachin Elementary School and Owego Free Academy on Tuesday from noon to 8 o’clock.
