The City of Binghamton started the first of eight code enforcement sweeps planned for this year. Code enforcement officers will be going through neighborhoods across the city, looking for overgrown grass, structural issues, and health code violations. The city did this last year, as well, resulting in close to 1,000 citations being filed, with 90 percent of them settled out of court. Code enforcement officers started their efforts on the North Side of Binghamton yesterday, and plan to expand their efforts from there.
