Police have arrested two individuals for the introduction of contraband into the Broome County Jail. A two-month long investigation found that 25-year-old Katherine Searles of Binghamton had been placing suboxone strips in letters addressed to her husband, Brian Searles, who was currently residing in the Broome County Jail. Brian Searles was then distributing the substance throughout the correctional facility. An executed search warrant of Katherine Searles’ home found additional evidence of the crime. Katherine Searles was arraigned and sent to the Broome County Jail without Bail. Brian Searles was already residing in the Broome County Jail, and is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges at the later date.
