Broome County has proposed a budget for the 2016 fiscal year, which features several key elements. The budget calls for $367 Million dollars in spending, which is up from this year. It also calls for a tax levy of 2.21%, which is slightly less than the levy imposed this year. In its 2016 budget, the county also plans on cutting $2.2 Million in staff costs. A public hearing to discuss the proposed budget will be held tonight at 5PM in the legislative chambers of the Broome County office building at 60 Hawley Street in Binghamton.
