Binghamton Mayor Rich David has released details on the affects of switching 7,000 city street lights to more energy-efficient LED technology. Mayor David says that the city is expecting to save 3,160,477 Kilowatt-hours in electricity every year. In addition to energy cost savings, Mayor David says that the switch to LED technology also has an environmental impact as well. It is estimated that the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions as a result of the switch in technology is equivalent to taking 301 passenger cars off the road.
