The Town of Binghamton Volunteer Fire Department is receiving federal funding to buy a new fire engine. The Town’s current fire engine is 22-years-old and no longer adequately serves the town’s needs. The Town of Binghamton Fire Department will be receiving $220,000 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for the new truck. The new truck will have more horsepower, increased compartment space, and an engine braking system better at helping the apparatus negotiate the hills in their district.
