Senator Fred Akshar was in Binghamton this morning to announce a $274,000 state grant that will help demolish the Collier Street Parking Ramp in the city. It has been closed since it was declared unsafe in November. Mayor Rich David says demolition of the structure will begin next Monday and take a few weeks. The grant will also allow the city to build a surface parking lot on the property until a new ramp can be constructed.
