We are one week away from the start of the water project that will close Lake Street in Owego for several months. Work is expected to begin next Monday on the project that will replace the more than 100-year-old water and sewer pipes under the street. Suez Water is in charge of the project, which will close Lake Street until at least September. However, the sidewalks and businesses will remain open during the work. In addition, the street will open each evening for traffic, but no parking will be allowed.
