Chemung County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported home invasion Wednesday night.
The call came in just before midnight. The homeowner, on Overlook Drive in the Town of Horseheads reported that three male subjects had entered the home, armed with a loaded rifle, and demanded cash from the residents. The homeowner subsequently shot one of the perpetrators.
All three suspects fled the scene in a dark colored sedan. One of the perpetrators, identified as 18 year-old Elmira resident Daiquan Bythwood, was transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira by his accomplices. He was then transferred to Robert Packer Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for a gunshot wound where he remains in critical condition at the hospital.
A second perpetrator, 17 year-old Elmira resident Zhamere Charriez, was located by Elmira Police and detained for the Sheriff’s Deputies. He is charged with one count of Felony Robbery in the First Degree and is being held on $50,000 cash, $100,000 property bond in the Chemung County Jail.
The third perpetrator involved in the robbery remains at large. He has been identified as Horseheads native, 19 year-old Drew Stansfield. He is a thin built, white male, 5’10” tall, with short blonde hair. He was last seen wearing dark colored sweatpants and a dark colored long sleeve shirt. If located call 911 immediately.
