Binghamton airport to receive $4.9 million from federal grants

The Greater Binghamton Airport will be getting some upgrades thanks to a federal grant.

According to Congressman Marc Molinaro, the regional airport will receive more than $4.9 million dollars in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Infrastructure Grant Program and the Airport Improvement Grant Program.

The funds will be used to reconstruct 51,000 square feet of existing terminal, upgrade the security screening area, baggage claim area, bathrooms, HVAC system, two passenger boarding bridges, sidewalks and more.

The Ithaca Tompkins Airport will receive more than $3.7 million dollars and the Tri-Cities Aiport in Endicott is set to receive $117,000 from the grant programs.
