An Apalachin woman was attacked and killed by her dog on Thursday.
The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office responded to Pleasant View Drive in Apalachin on Jan. 16. An investigation found that Darnelle A. Greeno was attacked by her dog and sustained multiple injuries.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The animal attacked a bystander who was out walking his dog, and the bystander was able to dispatch the animal.
The dog is deceased and there is no further threat to the public.
Tioga County Road patrol was assisted at the scene by the Tioga County Criminal Investigation Division, Town of Owego Dog Control, and the Tioga County Coroner’s Office.
