High-speed chase begins in Pa., ends with arrest in Candor

A high-speed chase that began in Bradford County ended with an arrest over the border in New York.

A suspect in a black Jeep led police on the chase which reached speeds of 100 miles per hour.

Police have identified the suspect as 32-year-old Mitch Johnson, who is from the Towanda area.

The pursuit began at Walmart in Athens Township, crossed the border into Waverly before going up Route 34 and eventually to Route 96 in Spencer.

The suspect was eventually apprehended in the Candor area.

Johnson was remanded to the Bradford County Jail on a Pennsylvania State Parole Warrant. Charges are pending by the Athens Township and Sayre Borough Police Departments regarding Tuesday’s high-speed chase.

Athens Township Police also have an active warrant for fleeing and eluding police charges from a prior incident.
