Former Penn State wide receiver and Southern Columbia High School graduate Julian Fleming is facing several felony charges following the death of his girlfriend during an ATV accident in Bradford County in May.
Fleming has been charged with felony counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and aggravated assault by vehicle. He also faces a DUI charge and several other related charges.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, 23-year-old Bloomsburg resident Alyssa Boyd was killed when an ATV being operated by Fleming struck a deer on Painter Lick Lane in Columbia Township on May 23.
Fleming was taken to Guthrie Troy Hospital with serious injuries. Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene.
They were not wearing any safety equipment at the time of the crash.
Fleming is scheduled to appear in front of District Judge Jonathan Wilcox today (Wednesday, Oct. 8) at 11 a.m. for his preliminary hearing.
