Here is the complete statement from Sayre Superintendent Michael Wells:

The Sayre Area School District learned of criminal charges against a track coach who works with our junior high track team on April 24, 2026. Because this is a personnel matter, we cannot provide additional details. However, the alleged actions did not involve any Sayre Area students and did not occur on Sayre Area School District property. The employment of the individual from their after-school coaching  position was immediately terminated upon the district being aware of the charges.

A school counselor was made available to students and will continue to be made available to support any students who may need assistance related to this matter.  The safety and well being of our students is always our greatest priority.
