Towanda Borough is looking into the creation of a local e-bike and e-scooter ordinance.

The borough’s planning commission will begin looking into the ordinance.

The move towards a possible ordinance comes after a 55-year-old Towanda man was killed after an SUV struck him while he was traveling on a motorized scooter on May 26.

Towanda officials said they will look into state laws and what other towns and boroughs have done to address the issue, including possibly using Sayre’s new law as a starting point.
