The Johnson City Fire Department has received federal funding to hire five new full-time firefighters to continue to staff its second fire station. The announcement was made by United States Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gilibrand. A total of just under $798,000 will be awarded to the Johnson City Fire Department through the Department of Homeland Security.
