State Senator Fred Akshar will continue his fight against the heroin and opioid epidemic this Saturday, as he partners with Binghamton Mayor Rich David and the Southern Tier AIDS Program to host a “Shed the Meds” prescription turn-in event and free Narcan training in Binghamton. Unwanted prescriptions can be turned in for disposal with no questions asked from 12-2pm at the Binghamton Fire Department Training Center on Belden Street. STAP’s free Narcan training will be held at the same location at 1pm. Space is limited, so please register online at akshar.nysenate.gov. Senator Akshar’s office says more than 500 pounds of prescriptions have been collected across his district in these events with an estimated street value of over $180,000.
