Several Broome County schools will be receiving a portion of a grant intended to promote wellness and prevent obesity. The “Creating Healthy Schools and Communities” grant was awarded to the Broome County Health Department through the New York State Department of Health. The grant will allow select Broome County Schools to be able to provide healthier food options, add fitness equipment to their facilities, as well as add fitness programs within the community. The grant will be expanded over the next five years.
