Binghamton Police have identified the driver killed in the fatal tractor trailer accident near Binghamton yesterday. The driver has been identified as 26-year-old Phillip Miller of Homer, NY. State Police are still investigating yesterday’s fatal crash near Binghamton. Three tractor-trailers collided between exits 3 and 4 on Route 17/I-81 South. Firefighters at the scene say it appears that it started with one of the trucks stalling while climbing a hill, and the other two trucks rear ending the stalled vehicle. One of the trucks caught fire. and in addition to the death of Miller, the two other drivers were transported to area hospitals with unknown injuries. The accident caused major traffic delays on the highway and in Binghamton as traffic was rerouted during a majority of the day.
