A fire broke out in a pile of scrap metal at Upstate Shredding in Owego Tuesday. The Campville Fire Department was dispatched to the scene around 9:30am, while Owego and Newark Valley were called for mutual aid. The fire was out in around an hour, leaving no significant damage at the facility. One Campville firefighter was transported to Lourdes Hospital for treatment of heat exhaustion. No other injuries were reported, and Upstate Shredding is back open this afternoon.
