The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office believes a local man stole a vehicle at a gas station in Newark Valley on Thursday and drove it into Broome County, where it was recovered later that afternoon. Investigators believe 28-year-old Shane Hildebrandt stole a car from a gas station on Main Street in Newark Valley around 9am Thursday. It was located by state police on Watson Boulevard in Endwell around 2pm, and Hildebrandt was taken into custody nearby. He was wanted on a parole violation and was taken to the Tioga County Jail without bail. The sheriff’s office says they are still investigating the incident and charges are pending.
