The New York State Police will be holding an Open House on October 7th from 11Am to 3PM to celebrate their centennial. Sidney is the headquarters for the State Police troop that covers much of the Southern Tier. This family oriented event will have K-9 demonstrations, Helicopter Rescue, Underwater Recovery Team (SCUBA), Special Operations Response Team (SORT), and the Centennial Mounted Unit. There will also be historical displays, firearm displays, vintage Troop cars, motorcycles, along with hands-on patrol car displays, tours of Troop Headquarters and the new Forensic Center. McGruff the Crime Dog will be a special guest. There will be some merchandise and food for sale by vendors. There is no admission for the event.
