The Chemung County Justice Building at 203 William Street in Elmira is closed to walk-in visitors Tuesday, November 3, because of the state offices’ Election Day observance.
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and the county Probation Department remain open. Visitors must call the appropriate office before arriving, and staff will meet them at the front door.
The Sheriff’s Office release lists 607-737-2949 for the Civil Office, 607-737-2933 for Criminal Investigations, 607-737-2948 for the Records Office, 607-737-2987 for the sheriff and undersheriff, and 607-737-2800 for Probation. The Pistol Permit Office may be reached at 607-737-2937 by phone but is not open to the public Tuesday.
