Horseheads Police Chief Michael Suhey has announced his retirement.
Suhey, who has served as chief since 2022, will retire from the role on Friday, May 22.
Suhey spent 21 years with the Elmira Police Department before retiring as a lieutenant. He joined the Horseheads Police Department in 2018 as a part-time officer before taking over as police chief.
The police department is expected to name its new chief at the village board meeting tonight.
